The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) is a newly introduced long-term visa designed for digital nomads, remote workers, freelancers, retirees, and investors who want to stay in Thailand for an extended period while engaging in leisure, work, or investment opportunities.

Who can apply?

• Passport Validity: Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the intended date of travel.
• Photograph: A recent passport-sized colour photograph taken within the past six months.
• Proof of Current Location: Documents such as a driving license, bank statement, or proof of residence.
• Financial Evidence: A bank statement from the past three months showing an ending balance of no less than 500,000 THB (approximately $16,000 USD). For family bank statements, proof of relationship (e.g., birth or marriage certificate) is required.

A workcation (Digital Nomads/Remote Workers/Freelancers)
Employment Documentation: An employment contract or certificate from your current employer, or a professional portfolio demonstrating your status as a digital nomad, remote worker, or freelancer.

Thai Cultural Activities (e.g. Muay Thai, Culinary Training, Medical Treatment)
Acceptance Letter: A letter of acceptance or appointment from the Thai institute, company, or medical centre organising the activity or treatment.

Spouse and Children Under 20 Years Old of DTV Holders
If you are a spouse or dependant of a DTV holder, the below are required to qualify.
Proof of Relationship: Documents such as marriage certificates, birth certificates, or adoption papers.
DTV Holder’s Documentation: Copies of the DTV holder’s passport biodata page, valid ID, and DTV visa approval.
Additional Documents for Minors: For applicants under 20 traveling alone, a notarised consent letter from both parents or legal guardians is required.

Applicants must be at least 20 years old and have a minimum bank balance of 500,000 THB. The Destination Thailand Visa targets the following groups: remote workers/digital nomads, freelancers, or those participating in Thai cultural activities such as Muay Thai courses, Thai culinary education, sports training, medical treatments, seminars, or music festivals.

The DTV is a multiple-entry visa valid for five years. Each entry permits a stay of up to 180 days. If you wish to stay longer without leaving the country, you can apply for a one-time extension of an additional 180 days per entry at a local immigration office in Thailand.

Unfortunately not. The DTV does not permit holders to work for Thai companies or seek employment within Thailand.
